After all the drama and speculation of the College Football Playoff was over and we knew who was "In" the nation was probably not in too much shock with the results. There was no reason to believe the committee would change anything they've been doing all season. The same four teams stayed in the top four every single rankings reveal. Whether it is right or wrong is up for debate for another time.
The playoff rankings are obviously the only ones that really matter, but there are a lot of other polls out there, including the coaches poll. The coaches poll is exactly what it sounds like, 61 coaches around the league of college football make their own poll and it is averaged out. Dabo Swinney had the most interesting one when he placed Ohio State at #11. The same team that his Clemson Tigers will be facing on January 1st for a chance at a third straight national championship appearance.
First of all I would like to say that while I do not agree with Dabo's ranking of the Buckeyes at all. I think everyone can agree Ohio State is at least a top 10 team even if you don't agree with them making the playoff. The best thing about this is that Dabo is already asserting his dominance into the matchup. He knew good and well his team was going to face the Buckeyes, just like he's done three times before and won them all including two games in the playoffs.
Clemson is 100% going to win this game, we will be watching Alabama vs Clemson for a fifth time since the playoff started on January 11th, 2021. Go ahead and bank on it. Dabo has been saying all year he doesn't think Ohio State should be in the playoff because they have only played six games, and he has a point. Ohio State did not look that good against Northwestern in the Big 10 championship game either.
Dabo knows how to get under the skin of his opponents, and that's what he's doing right here. He is going to let the Buckeyes know he does not respect their body of work. He is going to show people he thinks Coastal Carolina should be in the top 10 over Ohio State. The best part is, he has the chance to prove what he thinks when they play. He's undefeated against the Buckeyes in his career. The Tigers are in full postseason form where they've been the past six years, this is going to be a great matchup with plenty of storylines already, but Dabo just added one to the list.
