Georgia RB' James Cook a target for Lions in 2022 NFL Draft?

The Lions finished with the 2nd worst record among NFL team (3-13-1) giving them the 2nd overall pick in this upcoming draft. Michigan's Aiden Hutchinson (EDGE Pass Rusher), Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux (EDGE Pass Rusher), and Notre Dame's Kyle Hamilton (Saftey) has been linked to Detroit's first draft selection. The deal that sent QB' Matthew Stafford to the LA Rams' gave Detroit two first round picks, one of them being in this upcoming draft. They'll also have the 2nd pick in RD 2 (34th overall) and multiple picks after the early rounds. Every position at defense will be considered in the early rounds for Detroit as will be a WR' to help bulk up they're offense, but if Georgia playmaker James Cook falls to the Lions in RD 3 or later, Brad Holmes shouldn't hesitate to draft him and electrify the Lions' offense...

The Lions have been haunted by 3x Probowl RB' Dalvin Cook who plays for Lions' division rival Minnesota Vikings'. Dalvin is the older brother of James Cook, they play the same position, but they played for different programs in they're college career. Dalvin Cook played for Florida State University and James Cook played his entire college career with the Georgia Bulldogs. James will take part in the Reese's Senior Bowl to help showcase his talents before the combine. James Cook's true talent could lead him to be as successful as his older brother and with his brothers NFL experience to help guide the way, he could have a long productive career, and he could be someone Brad Holmes can't pass up if he falls into Detroit's lap at some point in the draft...

James Cook has multiple traits that makes him gifted. He has an incredible juke move that throws defenders right off of they're game, and that sets up the big run with his lightning quick speed. His vision and cuts in the trenches is phenomenal and he is a factor in the passing game. He isn't afraid to lower the shoulder if he needs to. He has a similar playing style as current Detroit Lions' and former Georgia Bulldogs' Running Back D'Andre Swift... Swift played a big role in Detroit's gameplan in 2021 and he led the way for Running backs in the Recieving category. A mix of Speed, Power, and Athleticism made Swift an elite playmaker in the '21 season for Detroit. Swift's young career has unfortunately been followed by some injuries and he looks to stay healthy in 2022 and beyond. Brining James Cook aboard takes some of the load off of Swift. Jaamal Williams who was signed as a free agent from the Green Bay Packers' played behind Swift in 2021 but he just isn't a playmaker, he is more of a power forward guy. Williams is under contract untill after next season. Detroit was a much better team with Swift in the backfield because of his explosiveness, and brining someone like Cook in would be really smart for those reasons. Could Detroit bring in another Bulldog for they're backfield?...

James Cook should be really pleased with his college career. He finished as a National Champion after Georgia defeated Alabama in the CFB Playoff National Championship Game. Cook is

5' 11" 190 pounds, he may be small, but he packs a big punch. His numbers might not jump out at you, but Georgia had multiple talented RB's in they're backfield, so the numbers don't really do justice to how important Cook was to Georgia's success. He ran for 77 yards, on just 6 carries in the big game against Alabama. He had more carries this season than his first 3 seasons combined at Georgia with 113 carries. He also had plenty of more yards this season than his previous 3, he finished the '21 season with 728 yards, his previous career high was 303 in 2020. His 7 touchdowns in 2021 beat his previous career high of 3 in 2020... I'm confident if Cook became a Lion they wouldn't regret their selection. Regardless, the future is looking bright for the Lions with the large number of draft pick's In the coming years...
