Paul Millsap Is Heading To A Contender

The veteran forward has caused a lot of interest around the league, including from two of the top teams in the league.

Brooklyn is the first team interested. The team is looking to separate away from Deandre Jordan since he was basically unused all of last years playoff run. The Nets like to play more of a small-ball type of lineup anyway. Millsap would be a great fit to be at either the four or the five alongside this star studded lineup. The only thing I could see keeping him away is if they decide to bring back Lamarcus Aldridge, but even then they might decide to bring both of the veteran big men on board.

Golden State is another team on the list. Everyone already knows this team loves small-ball. James Wiseman has given them the option to run with an athletic big man but they also could be interested in dealing him in the future for another star. Millsap fits here because he can be a key contributor off the bench to begin with and get easy buckets inside and at the key. If the warriors make a move during the season and send Wiseman off. Millsap is the ultimate center for a small-ball lineup with this team. Especially with his good three-point shooting.

The Clippers are also in the mix, making Paul Millsap officially the hottest veteran free agent out there. Los Angeles would be another place that Millsap would be contributing as a bench player. He is a good defender and plays great from the wing which is basically all the Clipper want. Paul is a huge team player as he has shown throughout his career. On a team like the Clippers with two guys that demand the ball as much as they do, Millsap could fit perfect as a role player.

The outside team looking in is the Chicago Bulls. Chi-town has made plenty of moves already this offseason. They have signed Lonzo Ball & Demar Derozan. They have traded away Lauri Markkanen to the Cavs in a three team deal that bring Derrick Jones Jr to Chicago. SO they know a thing or two about being aggressive with deals so far this offseason. For a team that is pretty young all around, adding a piece like Millsap could be pretty useful during a long season and into a hopeful postseason. Millsap has been in plenty of playoff runs including two conference finals (one with Atlanta, one with Denver). With the trade of Markkanen it wouldn't hurt for the bulls to add a forward with some shooting ability either.

Overall it's good to see the former Atlanta All-star get some attention from teams this late in the process. He still has a lot of good basketball left in him and it's awesome to see such contenders wanting him a part of the squad.
