Cade McNamara should have taken his last snap as the Wolverines starter following a 32-29 win against the Nebraska Corn Huskers.
Michigan is in the middle of building a playoff team this season with an incredible 6-0 record after beating Western Michigan university, Washington, Northern Illinois University, Rutgers, Wisconsin and now the Nebraska Corn Huskers. Although they are Undefeated, they have been carried by running backs Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins, and their defense. Quarterback Cade McNamara hasn't impressed this year.
McNamara's big flaw is that it's very difficult to open up the playbook with him under center. Currently playing the role as Michigan's back up, young J.J McCarthy is the complete opposite, McCarthy instantly opens up the playbook when he enters the game with his ability to get the job done on his feet and in the air. Numbers can sometimes be misleading as you would think why would a 6-0 team be benching their QB?. But, UofM hasn't ran into many talented defenses and as I mentioned been carried by the running backs. But, what happens when Michigan meets a good defensive squad?, Do you just run the ball down they're throats?. That's not how it works against good defenses.
J.J McCarthy committed to the Wolverines in 2019, as a 5- Star recruit out of Nazareth Accademy In Florida. He was named the 2020 Florida Player of the year. He had 1440 passing yards, 16 TD's, 240.0 yards per game, 91 completions, 157 passing attempts.

On the other hand McNamara replaced a struggling Joe Mixon in 2020.He Threw for 425 yards, 71 passes, 43 completions, 5 TD's, 0 INT's... McNamara went 5 and a half games this season before throwing an interception prior to tonight. Numbers haven't told the true story however with McNamara not having to many passing attempts. McCarthy has been ultra impressive when entering the games this season and is without a doubt the future of Michigan Wolverines Football,but should the future come sooner than expected?. Michigan's next game will be against a struggling Northwestern team who played in the in the big ten championship game last season. It will also be the last real chance to get McCarthy settled in before they take on currently 11th ranked Michigan State.
