San Diego just had a terrible road trip. They just lost seven of eight games against some of the worst teams in baseball. They were swept by Rockies, lost three of four against the Diamondbacks including being no hit by a pitcher in his vey first start, and lost 7-0 against the Marlins before that.
This doesn't seem to be anything new though for San Diego against the bottom of the pack. They are 8-11 against the Rockies this season, including being swept twice. When they play the Diamondbacks who are literally the worst team in the league, they are a measly 9-7. They even have the more embarrassing part of losing to a pitcher with..... diarrhea?
I seriously don't know which one is worse, getting no-hit by a guy having his FIRST career start on the worst team in baseball, or being one-hit through six inning against a guy who needed to take a poop the entire time.
Things could get even worse in the next couple of weeks as we head towards the end of the season. San Diego sits at third place in the NL West at the moment, and that's probably where they will finish. The Dodgers and Giants are not going to be losing seven out of eight anytime soon.
The Padres hold a 1.5 game lead over the Reds for the final wild card spot. The problem here is the Padres have the toughest remaining schedule left out of anyone in the league, while the Reds have the second easiest. To add insult to injury they are still without Yu Darvish, and Jake Arrieta left Wednesday's start with a left hamstring strain. Things seem to just be tumbling for a team that seemed like a mortal lock to be a playoff team.
The only positive they've seemed to have had was Tatis came back and hit two home runs in his first game back. This was also the only game they won last week. Maybe El Nino will spark a run in these guys, or he'll just shit up the storm with the rest of the guys, guess we'll see.
