Tigers should target Reds, Sonny Gray, following this report.

In an article I wrote a couple weeks ago, I listed 4 players the Detroit Tigers, could target in a trade. On that list you'll find Right-Handed, Pitcher, Sonny Gray. Today, following a report from "MLB Trade rumors" official Twitter account, the Reds are willing to trade Gray. Now that prediction, has become a possibility. But, why is it the right move, and who may Detroit give Cincinnati to get the 31 yr, old vet...

___

Sonny Gray has been around for awhile now. He established himself as an ace on all 3 of the teams he's played for in his career. This year he struggled through some injuries, he pitched in just 26 games, had 7 wins and 9 losses, with a 4.19 ERA. This season snapped his 7 year streak of finishing a year with a win percentage above .500, he's proven to be one of the most consistent pitchers in Major League Baseball since entering the league in 2013. Gray would add great depth to this pitching staff that is so young, and at age 31, Gray can become a top of the rotation starter in Detroit.

Tigers strike another Trade with Reds to reunite Gray with former Catcher, Tucker Barnhart?.

An interesting headline if a deal is made to move Gray to the Motor City, would be to reunite him with Tucker Barnhart, who was acquired in a trade a few weeks ago. This could be a move that not only improves and completes your rotation, it's also a move that would make your new catcher feel a little more comfortable. Gray would have a catcher that he doesn't need to adjust to and it's one less pitcher to adjust to for Barnhart. Tucker may be the reason the Tigers pursue Gray...

But who will Tigers need to give up to acquire Gray?...

I put together this possible trade package...

INF, Issac Paredes and P, Paul Richan...

The Tigers are clearly in win now mode as they have been maybe the most active team this off-season, kicking it into high gear early with the Barnhart trade, as well as getting the stove hot after signing Eduardo Rodriguez to a 5-year, 77-80 Million Dollar Deal. The first big free agent signing of the year. To take a step towards October baseball, Detroit needs to complete their rotation. These two players could get dealt to the Reds for an impactful pitcher in Gray... Infielder, Issac Paredes, has had his ups and downs, bouncing around the majors and minors. It seems that Paredes hasn't found his footing yet as a big leaguer, and for a team that is looking to win now, Paredes could be an interesting trade piece to teams around the league. I think it would be best for both the Tigers and Paredes personally to move on... Paul Richan, is ranked 25 on Detroit's prospect rankings. He's 12-9 through 40 career, minor league games. He was drafted in 2018 by the Chicago Cubs. He spent last year pitching for the Erie Seawolves (AA Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers).

If Gray doesn't head to the MoTown it's not like Detroit won't land the needed starter that they're searching for. Plenty of Free agent's and trade targets out there.

Hope you enjoyed the read, thanks...
