Aaron Rodgers is undoubtedly one of the greatest players to ever play in the NFL, but after Saturday nights loss against childhood favorite team San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round, have we seen the last of Aaron Rodgers as an NFL QB, or have we seen the end of an ERA in Green Bay?...
It was a gutting loss for Rodgers and the Packers, as they came in heavily favored at home in a cold and snowy Lambeau Field. Sloppy offense (Which was understandable with the condition's) and a meltdown in special teams cost the Packers a NFC Championship appearance. Green Bay's defense came to play, led by former Michigan Wolverines linebacker Rashan Gary who had 4 tackles and 2 sacks. Green Bay held San Francisco to just 3 points before the blocked punt returned for a TD, which proved to be a turning point in the game. The 49erd defense dominated Green Bay's final few drives and they're offense put Robbie Gould In position for the game winner. Right now, nobody knows what's next for Rodgers and it's all gonna be speculation untill an announcement is made. So, let's speculate...
Aaron Rodgers was asked in his postgame interview about his future with the Green Bay Packers' and it's not a suprise that he said "It's unclear" he also said "I gotta take some time and when I'm ready I'll have conversations with people in the organization". He later went on to talk about the upcoming free agent market and about Green Bay's struggle with being over the salary cap:
When Aaron said he would be having conversations with the organization, he probably meant he'd wanna know the plan moving forward for the Packers. Star Receiver Davante Adams is hitting free agency and you can imagine it won't be an easy get for Green Bay, especially with Aaron Rodgers uncertainty moving forward. I'm not sure the Packers are heading to a rebuild, but if so, is Aaron Rodgers done or will he give playing for another team a shot?. Here's 5 teams Aaron Rodgers could find himself on in the 2022-23 season...
#1. Green Bay Packers
We've seen the Aaron Rodgers drama before and despite all the speculation of a trade AR12 still found his way playing for Green Bay in 2021. As mentioned earlier in the article, it's gonna depend on what approach Green Bay takes next season, but also what other opportunities open up for Rodgers as he's shown interest in retirement before. Like Green Bay did in 2021 during the Rodgers saga, they will do everything they can to keep him in the organization...
#2. Tennessee Titans
This is in my opinion the most likely option other than the Green Bay Packers. Tennessee flopped again in the playoffs thanks to Ryan Tannehill's 3 Interceptions against the Cincinnati Bengals. Now there is a little speculation on wether or not Tennessee should move on from Tannehill. Derrick Henry, one of the best players in the league is looking for a championship and to keep the "King" healthy and have better balance on offense to get to the promise land, they might wanna upgrade at QB and Aaron Rodgers could be the man for the job...
#3. Seattle Seahawks
This is probably really unlikely, but if Aaron Rodgers become available it's definitely a possibility. It looks like Russel Wilson's impressive run with the Seahawks might be over and if the stars aline we could see a division with Rodgers, Stafford, Murray, and Jimmy G/Trey Lance. Talk about an exciting division...
#4 Philadelphia Eagles
This list is in no particular order, the Eagles for me is right up there with the Titans, because Philly has the draft capital to work a deal out with Green Bay. Jalen Hurts was a little better than expected this season, but it's hard to see big success with him under center, and if the Eagles front office is willing, this could make a ton of sense. It's a trade that makes the team better instantly and probably even better down the road even after Rodgers retires because it gives Hurts the opportunity to learn behind one of the all-time greats...
#5. Pittsburgh Steelers
Big Ben's phenomenal career is over after 18 years as a Pittsburgh Steelers he finally retired. With as good of a defense as Pittsburgh has it's hard for me to think they are about to rebuild and Mike Tomlin to me seems like the person who'd push even harder for a move to be made for Rodgers. They're a competitive team and I could see it happening...
