Michigan football season preview and predictions

On Saturday the Michigan Wolverines kickoff their season against the Western Michigan Broncos, at noon on ESPN.

Football season is here and with the temperature's here in Michigan dropping, the Wolverines are ready for battle. UofM needs a rebound year after struggling last season. Cade McNamara is expected to be the leader for the maize & blue at the quarterback position. McNamara replaced a struggling Joe Milton in the middle of the season. McNamara was 2-2 as a starter in 2020, he threw for 425 yards, 60.6% completion percentage, 5 touchdowns. He protected the ball well not throwing a single interception. He definitely showed promise and Michigan fans hope he impresses with this opportunity. Michigan is gonna need to have a better run game to establish what they need to on offense. This is their roster of running backs:

Blake Corum, 5' 8" 200lbs

Donovan Edwards, 6' 0" 202lbs

Tavierre Dunlap, 6' 0" 222lbs

Danny Hughes, 6' 0" 200lbs

Hassan Haskins, 6' 1" 220lbs

Lucas Andrighetto, 6'1" 204lbs

Leon Franklin, 5' 8" 206lbs

Nico Tiberia, 5' 9" 201lbs

Joe Taylor, 5' 10" 184lbs

Isaiah Gash, 5' 10" 178lbs

They also need to step up on defense. They will be lead by captain,DE Aiden Hutchinson who is expected to be the highest drafted Michigan player picked in 2022's NFL Draft. They will be without star DE Kwity Page as he tackles the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. They will also be without Cornerback Ambry Thomas who is now a San Francisco 49er. Ronnie Bell has been named a offensive captain for Michigan and I expect a breakout year for Bell.

Season Predictions:

Game 1: Vs Western Michigan. 38-7 W

We should start out by winning big in this game similar to when we beat Minnesota last season in the opener.

Game 2: Vs Washington. 14-13 W

Yes... We should beat Washington, some may say by a ton. But this will end up one of those random close games.

Game 3: Vs Northern Illinois. 27-17 W

Michigan should be able to take control early and often in this game.

Game 4: vs Rutgers. 34-24 W

I realize that this was a nail bitter last year. It shouldn't have been then and shouldn't be now.

Game 5: @ Wisconsin. 28-17 L

First game on the road and against a better team then we have faced this season doesn't mix. This will be a unfortunate loss on the record.

Game 6: @ Nebraska. 21-17 W

We should win a close battle against the corn huskers.

BYE

Game 7: Vs Northwestern. 31-20 L

I feel like we lose this one and In ugly fashion.

Game 8: @ Michigan State. 27-24 W

Even though we are good enough to blow them out. It's a rivalry game so it will be close and we are on the road.

Game 9: Vs Indiana. 20-17 W

I think this will be a fun game to watch and Michigan gets the win.

Game 10: @ Penn State. 24-20 W

Last seasons loss to the Nittany Lions was disappointing. Let's hope Michigan can redeem themselves.

Game 11: @ Maryland. 35-17 W

This would be a big win heading into a rivalry game.

Game 12: Vs Ohio State 30-27 W

If we are gonna beat Ohio State it needs to be now with a rookie QB and without Trey Sermon and we are home. #GoBlue
