As if it wasn't enough that the two most historic teams in the conference voluntarily wanted to ditch the ship, it's now got even worse for the Big 12.
Reports have surfaced that the ACC, Big Ten, and Pac-12 are joining forces to create an alliance.
This is obviously a counter to the SEC who seems to have been getting all the glory the past few weeks. The alliance is going to help with scheduling out of conference games and other things we'll learn more about as the conferences have a formal press conference Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The idea here is that with how much college football is changing, it seems to be every man for himself. This will bring these three together so that one can not fall without the other. Having these three exclusive to one another is cool for scheduling purposed because it's about time we got out of the power five conferences playing two-three little guys every year. This way you can tell recruits that you are going to be playing the best talent around the country every year.
On the other hand the Big 12 is now in a deep hole for a few reasons. The first being that they are already down to just eight members starting in 2025, they have also attempted to cut ties with ESPN amid all the news because they feel as if ESPN was the reason for the hype. So now they are taking away their eight teams from playing on the network that literally own college football.
That's not even all of it, if it's not obvious at this point it seems that the conference is heading into a bad direction, news has surfaced they are already attempting to tank with no rebuild in site.
The next five years will determine what happens and where they stand, but this not what you want just 11 days before the official week one of college football, look out for more to come.
