In the midst of AJ McCarron tearing his ACL the Falcons needed to sign another quarterback. I mentioned last week I would of liked to see us maybe trade a late pick for Gardner Minshew because I like the way he plays.
Well the Falcons don't ever listen to me anyways so they went out and signed Josh Rosen shortly he was cut from the 49ers. Rosen was the 10th overall pick in 2018 and we know how much the Falcons love first round players so this makes perfect sense. Another thing is Felipe Franks can not be the second guy so this is what they had to do.
The real news here though is the report that came out Atlanta was in talks with the BOAT Blake Bortles.
We all know that Bortles led the Jags on that historic playoff run before falling to the Patriots. He was a top three pick and one of the all time moral guys you want on your team. Rosen is already known for having bad energy and that is not what we need in Atlanta right now.
Bortles was recently released by the Packers and so it would cost the same amount that we got for Rosen, plus the fans would be pumped for a move like this. I don't see why not just go balls to the wall and make sure they have the best backup they can get. It saddens me there will be no Blake Bortles Falcons jerseys.
